What have I been learning to do?

I have been learning to create pop art with our favourite cartoon characters in them. 

What have I found interesting about Pop Art?

I have found all the ways the different shapes and colours have actually blended together. 

What else do you want to find out about Pop Art?

If Andy originally designed all of the comic book art, before other people used them! And how they had the thought of changing the colours around. And create for digital art!

What would you like to create over time?

I would like to revamp different household and classroom items! Also make more cartoon digital art pieces.

Reflective Comment.

I think I have done extremely well with all of our computer work, but I need to critic my drawings, and I need to finish off uncompleted tasks. 

My Narrative.

1. A memorable wedding or funeral. Writing as I we're that person.
   

My funeral. I thought this day would never come. The pain, the grief all mixed together as one. I am writing this today ( December the 1st ) as I am currently stuck in a rest home trying to prove something of myself. I am a 77 year old lonely man… My so called “Family” Doesn’t visit. I just sit in the same chair waiting for a spark to appear and bring joy upon me. For the first time I went for a light stroll around the centre for some fresh air! I had all these strange rather silly thoughts popping up in my head. I’m not just old and lonely in a rest home, I also suffer from stage 4 colon cancer. I have this dark fear that my life is coming to an end. My doctors told me I wouldn’t last long. 5 months ago they said I could hopefully last another 6 months. Hearing those words “You won’t last long” is life changing. You look back and realise all your dreams you didn’t make a reality and sigh.

I want to make my last few months, possibly days as memorable as possible. I want to travel the world, try different food, and just do dumb things. That’s all I want to do! How could I forget! Hi i’m Peter and you're about to witness how i’m spending my last days left:) I come from a big family, I was a young star in a small boy band that was rising to the top of the charts. The group was successful enough to make some small bucks. It was all going well until the band had a “Group meeting” Which was when they decided among themselves to kick me out! They said I was too boring, and mature. It was true I was always the mature responsible kid in the class, and people hated me for it.

I got bullied for being a continuous buzz kill.  I always sucked the joy out of everything, well in my mind I sucked the dangerous things out. My family was quite poor. We were originally from Mississippi, not exactly the most thriving place to live in. I’d never had a loving mother in my life, as she left us when I was very young. I grew up with a single father that worked as a lumberjack which got us just enough money for groceries and power. I learnt it all from my dad, I never knew what it was like to have two parents that wanted to grow old together!

I was the oldest of 7, which brought upon tough jobs. I took care of my siblings 24/7 getting nothing but tiredness and starvation out of it. It was a hard life for us the Miller family as my father struggled to keep up with the bills. 1941 I was just seventeen years old when my whole family got evicted out of our home. My father (Brent) was losing hours at work, and didn’t end up with enough money to pay the taxes. We stayed with dad's sister Kathy and eventually found a new house years later.

Ever since that day I've been continually counting my blessings, as I was and am still so grateful for finding another house. We all worked hard, I got a part time job at an old fishing shack called (hook n rod) as for my 2 other siblings that we're old enough to work found jobs at a local diner! With all of us working we we're able to keep up with appliances. (Back to 2017) I lay in the bed of my rest home listening to the quiet ticks of the clock, it got dark quickly and it was time for sleep.

I woke up and had my usual day, and go to a small white room for chemo treatment. I get more and more depressed as the day goes on. A windy, gusty Tuesday, I am casually eating some hot soup as I got a requested phone call at 8. Apparently from a relative! I get on the phone to hear a musky dark voice repeat “I will make an entrance” “It will all crash and burn” I jump of the phone call with fear and startled face… The nurse says “Well who was that” with an excited squeaky voice.

I say I don’t know I really don’t. I returned back to my room, lying on my bed reading a book that calmed me. I finally fell asleep then to wake up hearing creaking noise coming from outside my door. I saw a bright flash before my eyes! Everything had blown up into the air, what had happened. I survived I said while trying to hear and open up my eyes. A dark mask faced group stood over me, one took of his mask revealing who he was. He said “I said it would all crash and burn” You know me, right dad! I trembled at the words he said thinking wait I don’t have a son...

I have found the patterns and designs that can be done on pop art are really interesting, as you can have all different colour shapes and it still reflects back to pop art.

My Recount on Loren Sila's Show!

Friday of two weeks ago,

My family and I had a real life show to attend to. It was our good friend Loren Sila, all round singer and dancer. Loren had danced at Swarm Studios and big places in Auckland called the Palace. Loren was also picked to be in a dance crew called the NZX Team which, represents all of New Zealand in competitions  overseas. She even lead as a main dancer in one of Stan Walker’s music videos called “Messages” which got her well known. She wants to pursue her music career forward and in order to do that she has to follow simple rules. The very first rule was to complete and achieve your own concert, and so she did!

My sister and I have been waiting for this show for two-three months now, and we were ecstatic once we realised it was later that evening. I had just got home from school and I heard a loud screech saying “shonni get ready” reading for what? I replied. My sister yells back at me “Loren’s big show is tonight” I had a tremendous sore throat that day and hadn’t yet had time to go to the doctors I had also just finished our school cross country. I was exhausted. So you would’ve guessed my answer would of been a big unenthusiastic “yay” then sighing because that hurt my throat.

I didn’t know what to wear or what to do, so I paced myself back and forth down our hallway. Hoping some ideas will pop into my head. I was finally ready to see some dancing that looked rather tiring for them, though energising. My sister and I left home first so we could get good front row seats and save them for all of us. The rest of my family walked in clueless, struggling to find us at the front. My sister Shani whispers to me “they look so lost, like this is just some gathering or something” I replied it kind of is I guess! My sister is a huge fan of Loren’s and tries to hang out with her as much as she can, so her loud reply was “It’s not some gathering it’s the Loren Sila show” while smirking at me she said.

We were at the front of one of the lines which said in bold “ALREADY BOUGHT TICKETS” we went into the reception, when my sister actually hadn’t completing “bought” our tickets and we had to switch lines. Which got some customers behind us quite upset and we took a good five minutes just so the girl could get our names down. I slowly looked at Shani shaking my head while other people starting to go in. We eventually got to our seats 3rd row from the left side.

We sat down and waited for half an hour with anxious faces waiting for her to pop out from back stage.  It was a well thought out performance and I enjoyed every bit of it. They sung, they danced and were just on point with everything. I especially liked the layout/decor of the stage it has planted ropes hanging from side to side. With wood and fake plants on the left side of the stage, it was a enthusiastic performances and Loren gave it her all.

We were all tired and hungry so my parents had a good idea to go to a restaurant called Petal Pushers in Riccarton. We ate every crumb off our meals and gulped down our drinks so we could all go home for a earlyish night. We ended up staying longer as we expected by loudly laughing while people were giving us odd looking faces from across the room. The night wa still young but I don’t know about my family I wanted to go home. As there were many intoxicated people at the bar next to us.

I absolutely loved this show and I hope to go to many more that happen, it was thrilling and touching. It was based on her losing her dad and finding hope! It was amazing, I can't wait to witness another show of Loren and the Swarm Crew who danced along side of her.

This is my recount about me and my family going to our family friend Loren Sila's show! The show was called Come Through. She sang and danced for an hour and a half with her, and her dance crew! It was a marvellous night and we ended up going to a restaurant right down the road. Called Pedal Pushers, After we ate we headed home as we were exhausted. It was a fantastic night!

For festival of the arts kete, I am doing Andy Warhol inspired Pop Art.

What is Pop Art?

Pop Art stands for Popular Art, and was created by Andy Warhol himself. 

What have I been learning to do?

I have been learning to create popular art inspired by pictures I have seen.

What did you find interesting about Pop Art?

It was interesting to see all of the different objects that you could take and revamp it!

What do you want to find out about Pop Art?

I want to find out how Andy Warhol was inspired to create such designs.

What would you like to create?

If possible, I think it would be fun to make a ad completely inspired by Andy's pop art! 

Reflective comment.

Overall I say I have done well at most of the task's we have been given. I think I could work better on my art/drawing to really perfect it.

Colour wavelengths - Science

Aim: I want to find out how light colours mix together.

 Research: Mixing light colours are called additive mixing. All these colours evolve around wavelengths, the bigger the wavelength the brighter and bolder the colour is. Fact is that, white is made of every colour in the rainbow as it has it has all wavelengths.  

Certain objects appear different colours because of different wavelengths. White appears white because it reflects its own colour. Black appears as all different, dark colours because it doesn't reflect its own colour. This picture you simply see a red shirt and blue shorts, you see red because it reflects off the colours of red, orange and yellow which all evolve around the colour red. Then blue reflects off blue, dark blue and purple. They all evolve around blue! 

There is a difference between on screen colours and real life colours e.g inks and paints. On TV screen most colours mixed together would reflect as the colour black.

While mixing actual paints in real life you will

white instead. Yellow, Magenta & Cyan are the only colours that cannot be absorbed to reflect, instead if you mix those three colours together you will end up with black and no colours will be reflected back. All primary colours can be turned into a lighter or darker version of themselves.
